LET NATURE HEAL
from Finding Your Way After Your Spouse Dies
Step with me into the world of nature, in reality or through imagery. Experience the sense of belonging, harmony, and peace that can be found there, and make these impressions part of you. If you’re not sure where to begin, consider the following suggestions.
***** Walk in a gentle rain. Get in step with the pattern of the raindrops. Smell the earth’s reception. Tilt your head back and feel drops on your face - cleansing, healing. Avoid the puddles, or choose to walk through -- defiantly. Search for a rainbow when the sun interrupts the rain. Claim its promise.

***** Keep vigil until you see the first snowflake. Watch it being joined by a host of others. Stay with the scene until the drab winter world becomes white and pure. Everything is sculptured with softened lines! Absorb the stillness. Feel total peace.
***** The sky is yours for watching. Experience a sunrise and sunset in the same day. And, in between, watch blue skies, gray skies, and angry skies - something to match all your moods. Take an hour or two to dream along with the billowy clouds. Float with the scenes you imagine. Let the clouds take you wherever you want to go.
***** Find a flower and trace each petal with gentle fingers. Smell its fragrance. This flower is different from every other flower, as you are different from every other person. You are beautiful and special too.

|
***** Find the strongest tree and put your arms around it. It is immovable! You can’t see its roots, but you know they are there, reaching deep into the earth. In winter the tree looks dead, but you know it is alive.
***** Travel with the tiny twig being carried by a rushing stream. Feel the wind hitting head-on; turn, and let it push you home.
Dear God, Open my eyes! Help me to connect with the rhythms and cycles in the world you have created, and in so doing, connect and be at peace with you
..Amen.
